You don't? Can you distinguish between the Christian and the American? Is an American Christian different from a German Christian?
I think that religion and culture often intersect and influence each other, but I don't believe them to be the same thing. Religion can differ colloquially, but I see it as more of a universal than culture. Culture is, for the most part, bound within national borders while Christianity transcends them. (Intrestingly, this observation seems to become less pertinent with each year as American culture spills over its borders and into American-influenced third-world countries and even developed countries).
As for the fundamental difference, I think that culture is the value of the local (national customs, traditions, flags, clothing, etc.) while religion is the value of the universal (spirituality, humanity, God, universal truths [kindness, charity, etc.]). Feel free to revise that definition, cuz I just came up with it off the top of my head while listening to the new Interpol CD (which is awesome).
