Die Commie Pinkos! ........ [creationism v. evolution]

Postby Caesar » Jan 20, 2005 @ 3:40am

Thierry, shut up.

jcl: Why do you see evolution as contradicting the Bible? Let's pretend for a moment that God did create everything in 7 days as we know days to be (the Hebrew meaning for a day isn't the same as ours, it could truly be referencing thousands of years but was lost in translartion) - now, when he created life, it didn't just go *poof* and come into existence, it grew from something. he created cells first, which created more cells which evolved into more complex organisms and so on. Evolution is a complimentary theory for the creationist - that's how Darwin intended it. The Bible cannot be %100 accurate anymore - it's been translated, re-written and reorganized far too many times to be accurate as of now. For instance, I'm guessing you're using the King James version, which means you're missing several books of the new testament already because King James didn't like them. Not to mention he edited some of the Bible as well. This does not seem to fit the Bible being %100 accurate theme. Just for the record, I do believe in God, this is and has always been a logical fact to me. God is real, God exists, there is no other explanation as far as I can see. I've accepted God as a fact.

I agree with sandmann as well, you do not need a church to be able to find God. Churches aren't a bad thing mind you, but you can find God many ways. For instance, every time I learn something new about physics, or technology or any science, I think to myself how fucking amazing God is to create all this and give us humans the curiosity and intellect to pursue the knowledge of all his creations. this is also related to Thierry's outdated sig - the church hasn't tried to quash science since the dark ages. Most Christians today agree that God wants us to learn everything we can about the universe, not that we learn to be content as cavemen.
Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

I find such arguments to be entertaining hypocracy. That hypocracy comes from the observation that people on the 'non-religious' side often are the one's who scream the loudest for 'tollerance' and 'moving to the middle.' Notions absent in their arguments and tone. But, enough about that.

Dismissive, condecending and sarcastic comments towards people who have faith in a power higher than themselves is ignorant, and shows a certain inability to accept other people's point of views when they diverge from your own. It also shows an intellectual immaturity that is formed from one who is only convinced of things once they are proven to them in such a way as conforms to their way of thinking.

Interestingly, none of the faithful people on this board have been dismissive of non-believers...

A further, but not always appropriate, hypocracy comes from people who don't believe in God/god but do conform to some sort of environmentalist or mother earth mentality. Michael Crichton gave an interesting speach about this subject at one point...here's a . I suggest you read it if you want an interesting perspective on humankind and religious belief.
