No one did ask.

Thirty nations have formed a coalition with the United States in a war against Iraq and 15 others have voiced their quiet support and approval of the war.
The Pope is against the war ... I don't understand how he can be for Saddam killing 60,000 Iraqi citizens every day, the raping of hundreds/thousands of women in Iraq every day, the chemical and biological experiments on it's citizens every day. I don't know what he's thinking. He says that whoever attacks Iraq "will have responsibility before God" or something like that. God's going to be clapping when Bush steps up to the plate.

Saddam is killing 60,000 each day??? I've heard that 60,000 children are dying a year, but not per day. Do you have a source for that info?

From George Will's on ABC's This Week (3/16/03):

But the United Nations itself estimates that the current U.N. policy of trying to contain Saddam with economic sanctions kills 5,000 Iraqi children under 5 years old — every month. Sixty thousand a year.

There you go. Opposition to war through misinformation. And you wonder why I called you ignorant

Today in my history class we had a discussion about this. Some of the comments I liked (almost exact quotations):

Someone: Israel will get involved too
Jew who had his head on his desk: (suddenly perks up) Israel has, like, a really really amazing army too! Now we'll DEFINITELY gonna win this war!
(I laugh)
Two Jewish girls who sit next to each other (who turned me in for 'anti-semitism'): What are you laughing at? You're saying Israel is weak? Oh my God don't get me started!

Dumbass Irani girl: But like, I know, from stories and stuff that Saddam really isn't that bad. Bush is just making half this stuff up.
Other dumbass kid: Yeah, Bush is so stupid... He just wants any war he can find.

Holy shit the ignorance is staggering. Those are just a sample of some of the comments. There are only TWO, count them, TWO pro-war people in a class of 26; me and, surprisingly enough, one of those Jewish girls. Of course that's because our school is 40% Jewish, 98% liberal.

a) lol...leave it to damian to point that out.
b) Sandman: it falls on the educated to enlighted the dumbasses. you should consider it your calling in life to 'help' them remove their respective heads from their asses.

and...no shock there...acedemia is OVERWHELMINGLY liberal...a major problem in this country if you ask me.

I made a few sarcastic comments (it's an incredible talent of mine in real life), and got yelled at by the teacher sufficiently. He, too, is liberal, but at least he's fair about it. All the kids know he's liberal, so they mentioned the "war for oil" argument, thinking he'd back them up and go off on it, but he set them straight. Weird that he's so liberal when he's also probably one of the smartest people I know.
