You know what... I just realized that every program I EVER use, not just frequently but EVER use, is available for the Mac. And Macs are pretty kick ass, I played around with some of them at the Mall at the Millenia in Orlando when I was visiting my brother and going in the Gucchi and Bang & Olufsen stores et cetera. It depends, but my next computer may be a Mac. If they made a Laptop with Pen support a la a TabletPC then that would be hard to resist, their interface is perfect for a tablet.

Those iMacs are really cool, the LCD swivels everywhere and so smoothly, like a console in some sci-fi movie. And the widescreen laptop is incredibly big, in a good way. It's thin, but wide, so much screen realestate I've never seen, and the OSX seems to be resolution independent, which is very cool if infact it is.

[edit] Apple is updating their website, I guess they're putting up the new machines this afternoon. I can honestly say I'm interested.

How well does Mac interface with PCs over a network? And what about software adoption, are programmers going more and more with Mac, is there a steady increase?

I use my iBook along with 4 pc's on a network. Everything works correctly, and it's not too hard to setup, but transferring files is a little akward. They fixed it abit in Jaguar but it's still not great. For example, if you want to copy files from you're pc using the mac, you have to use connect to server, then type in the address of the pc with smb. There is an option to have it search for the pc's on the network that they added in jaguar, but across the wireless network, it's really slow.

Also, as OS X gains popularity, it seems that more developers are porting their software to mac, but it's still a delay. UT2003 is just coming out for mac, much later than the pc. Some developers simultaneously release for both, but most of these are graphics oriented programs.

I don't play many games, so that doesn't really matter to me, as long as I can buy a hit game every couple years within 6 months of its release that's fine. QuakeIII is the only game I play on my PC now anyway. It's basically for the internet, for work, and especially for music.

Is there an emulator available that lets Macs run Windows software?
