To be honest, I've really not used RH9 enough to form much of an opinion yet (I'm using it at work via ssh, so I've not even booted a GUI yet).
Their firewall configuration wasn't exactly "helpful" - I hoped it ran shorewall but apparently not. Lokkit doesn't impress me very much. Means I'll have to send effort shorewalling it.
Their user configuration was missing totally. Mandrake has a nice setup thing on install that you can use to configure users. RH didn't (or I missed it).
My RH9 install seems to have xmms on there. A quick inspection doesn't show up things like mpg123 or freeamp, but I probably didn't actually install them (it's supposedly a server rather than a "desktop machine"). I'd check the CDs, except the machine is at my flat.
Incidentally, I tried out Xine again last week on Mandrake 9.1 and was very impressed (again)

It managed to play some files that the wretched media player 9 struggled with. (I would use MPlayer but their attitude problem makes me not want to go near it).
I'll let you know more once I've messed around with the X stuff, but bear in mind that I didn't play with Mandrake much because its lack of support for my RAID was a show-stopper for me. (MDK9.1 was a test install on my system anyway, so a new install of RH 9 was easier than rebuilding the kernel and hacking about).
(I bracket too much).
