well, coffee is hot. Dont spill it on yourself. Dont drink it if you are too clumsy to open it in a non moving car.

Hot, but this is 85 deg. C 3rd degree burn hot.

I've spilled coffe on myself, including times where I spilled it on my arm and was holding the cup and thus couldn't do anything about it while the coffee burned. However, I did not get 3rd degree burns, and I was not crippled.
