New Epidemic Disease

Everyone has heard about this new disease that, as of 11 last night, killed 8 in Asia and one in Toronto, a few airplanes were quarantined after people started showing signs of the disease, too. They think it's a new strain of neumonia (does that have a p in it?) but they don't have an official name for it yet, and it's spreading quite quickly. So I hope everyone stays safe. I'll be praying for all uh y'all. If you start coughing and get sweaty and stuff then watch yourself. Sorry I don't have a link to CNN or MSNBC, y'all can check out the major news sites on your own.

epidemic --

Widely prevalent: epidemic discontent.

n.

An outbreak of a contagious disease that spreads rapidly and widely.

It's infected eight in Asia. It's not an epidemic, and seeing how scary it is, I hope it never becomes one.

It's spread to North America and Europe, I think that qualifies as "spreading rapidly and widely" considering how quickly it cropped up.

Well i saw this too. I started to get a little worried because my aunt had it about a week ago, (she attended a class that had alot of asian people in it from singpore) Apparently everyone in the class got sick of neumonia(i dont know how to spell either). Now guess what I have :P

The issue isn't how quickly it "sprang up", it's how recently you've heard about it. And widely not in a geographic sense, but a population sense.
