Not sure how many of you know this, but the DVD of Die Another Day (latest Bond flick) is coming out in the UK on Monday.

DVDs in this country vary in cost from about £16-20. Well, Die Another Day is going to retail for £25. It's a real rip-off. All these companies are trying to promote DVDs yet charge this sort of money for them. What sort of person do they expect to buy it?

A few of my friends are contributing and we're buying one copy and ripping it to each PC. That's five PCs it's stored on, and one copy bought. If it was a reasonable price we'd all have bought it - this is the first DVD we've ripped like this.

So, that's £24 Warner Brothers (?) makes instead of £80 (if all of us bought our own copy. I like owning DVDs, I've got a huge collection. But I'm not buying them at this price.

jesus, you still buy dvds in SHOPS?! are you fucking insane?!!

get them off the internet. i usually go for blackstar.co.uk (its 16.99 there) or play.com (16.99 there too)

my friend buys region 1 dvds (much cheaper) but our home player isnt modded for that yet... i'm thinking of getting a dvdr drive and renting and ripping anyways...

Lots of cheap ($50-$100-ish) Apex drives are regionless by default... you might want to consider that. I have a $50 AD-3201.

heh heh... Most DVD's here in Canada are the same price, except in Canadian dollars ($15->$30). So that's like 6->12 pounds.
