One of my PCs (the only one that directly connects to the internet) was infected. However I don't think the worm was working right, because I never saw the shutdown messages, etc. Some other odd things were going on, like I couldn't bring up the dialup status window, and copy / paste wouldn't work. Lo and behold the msblast.exe process was running (it's very easy to see if your machine is infected - just bring up the task manager (CTRL-SHIFT-ESC) and look for msblast.exe under processes).

Well, the worm coulnd't be that proficient while both a quarter of the world's major computer users were shut down because of power outage, and everyone was almost forewarned, and anyone with half a brain can install the patch and get rid of it.

the problem I had was while the patch may of only taken 2 mins to find on google. Everytime I got anywhere the comp would shut down so what should of taken minutes took ages.
