A virus that automatically downloads mp3 files from kazaa. This way, when the RIAA sues you, install this virus, and boom! the virus did it, not you and they cant sue you.

Its like someone stealing your car and running over people with it. you dont get in trouble... I think... Rockstar would get sued instead :-P

First, I think the idea has merit. Basic human instinct is to survive, which means you must defend yourself from the dangers of the world... The RIAA being one of them. I don't use Kazaa myself, but the virus idea is a nice defense for those who do.

Second, I've heard the RIAA isn't going after the "small-time" people who download the music anyway. Their real targets are the "big-time" people who upload it, especially over very high-speed connections. So if all you do is download, I think you'll be pretty safe. If I'm wrong... use the virus. :)

From what I read it sounds like they used a search engine to find people that were sharing their music files with the rest of the world. They are not going after everyone that downloaded music. They are only going after those that didn't turn off file sharing in kazaa.

Actually, the RIAA is going after the little guy; over 200 teenagers had CHARGES pressed against them by the RIAA today for downloading mp3 files. That carries serious fines and possible jail time. This is ludicrous.
