Best video card for the price

I am building myself a new computer. The only thing i'm hung up on is the video card. I don't have the money for a $430 9800XT, so i was wondering if i could get some opinionsbut I want to stay away from nVidia. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Stay away from Nvidia? They have excellent mid-range cards. Don't get any of the FX cards below 5800. A Geforce4 TI would be faster. I have a Geforce4 TI 4200, best card I ever had and its pretty cheap nowadays.

But if you really want to, ATI isn't too bad :wink:
The 9600 Pro is better than the 4200 if you have a little extra money. Dont get anything below that. My friend has a 9000. Unfortunately, all I can say is ow.
