Here in London I heard (could just be an urban myth) of someone who got an article of clothing, something like a belt on a coat, stuck in the doors of an underground train as they closed. They couldn't untangle it, driver hadn't noticed and drove the train away from the station and they were dragged into the tunnel.

That story is impossible. Underground trains have virtually no walking space between the wall and the train. You would hit the wall (in the area where you board the train) and the shirt would rip off, with minimal injuries.
