The Acer also has double the hard drive (80 vs 40) and a faster FSB (533 vs 400).

I would suggest the Gateway M285-E
or the Toshiba Portege M400 or their Tecra M4
The Gateway is inexpensive and is pretty good on the specs as far as speed. The Toshiba's both come with 1400x1050 screens. the Portege M400 has Core Duo up to 2.2GHz with integrated graphics, the Tecra M4 has Pentium M up to like 2GHz or there abouts and has a Geforce 6600Go. They are a tad more expensive, but if you need the speed and screen realestate the Toshiba's are your only options.

Recommend the Toshiba. I played with an M200 and it rocked, M400 can only be better.

My M200 also rocks (though I bunged more RAM and a faster HD into it).

The discontinued HP TC1100 is pretty good, and you can actually still get it from their site. eBay also lists a lot of them. Not the fastest one out there, but definitely good.
If you want power, go with Toshiba's M200. Pretty heavy, but it's the fastest tablet out there.

See, TabletPCs are great. I've been using mine for 3 years now straight as my sole computer.
