In one of the other posts we were talking about German engineering. 999 mentioned the Corrado- a car I had not heard of for some reason, and it's a Volkswagen?. So I looked it up online. It doesn't look like a sports car (from the pics I saw anyway) but it certainly has the gear.

Corrado sounds like a spanish word- not German.

I'll have to take a ride in a Corrado one of these days, now that I know what it is. :)

I like the way the Corrado . It's not a real, but a phantasy word. Maybe inspired by Colorado or something...

I believe Corrado is italian, as one of the main characters in the Sopranos is named Corrado Soprano. That show is usually on point with little details like that.

The Corrado doesn't look like a traditional sports car. However, iff you take careful notice of the shape you'll see how it has inspired many other "mainstream" Sport cars, most notably the 2 door BMWs with the small fastback rearend and the older Mitsubishi Starions (which coincidentally was a pitched design for the new Sirroco that ultimately was retired for the new Corrado family in 1990).

The design is by Kharmann, of Kharmann Ghia fame (yep I owned one of those beauties too). In the UK, the Corrado is often referred to by enthusiasts simply as a Ghia, even though it's not really.

I'll take a shot of the car on Monday when I take a technician down to check the lifters and SuperCharger for me. Don't worry Randall, this one is very sporty, as you'll see in the piccies ;) The rims and exhaust are just mean lookin'... I LOVE IT!

Sniff... I can't wait to break it in with Drifts, that pistol grip Ebrake looked like a virgin still, me likes, me likes a lot :)

Check out the Black Corrado in the foreground, it has the Exact same rims as I do, except mine have red mounts to compliment the car's finish.

.

Last modification: 999 - 05/26/01 at 17:58:23

Those look more sporty than the pictures I saw. The pics I saw looked like they were fairly older models- they looked more like a Sirocco without the rear spoiler.

The black one looks pretty cool. What year is yours?

Mine is 1990, as is the other one I'm going to buy next week.

The reason I prefer the 1990 model is for a little gimmick known as the G60. I don't know what G stands for, but the 60 is the length of the fanblades in MM(?) inside the SuperCharger. The '91 models were refitted with an extreme angle V6 cylinder aka VR6.

The VR6 is a good engine, much more stable and effecient, but unfortunately, it's potential is capped by it's size. It's far to big, and required a slight bulge be added to the hood to make room. This means there's no space for cool addons like a Turbo, or better yet, a SuperCharger.

Y'know, sometimes I wish my cousin never introduced me to "Speed Racer" as a kid. Maybe then I'd be less into fast cars, racing, and most importantly, being competitive. Hehe, my first Corrado was white like the MachV :)

Okay, my pops gave me the green-light on this purchase.

I took a couple of quick snaps while I was there:
Image
It's hard to tell, but you can make out the exhaust mod, trust me that's not stock :) You'll also notice the stock Fuba antenna placed dead center and rear on the top of the car. Lots of people in Civics copied that placement location soon after ;)

Image
Here's a shot of the RIMs and low profile perelli's it's sporting.

Once I have the car in my possesion (crossing fingers), I'll take more shots, especially of what's intriging me the most, it's Neuspeed performance Chip. I wonder if I can overclock that too?

It's like HKS or NISMO, a company which sells sports parts to replace your stock ones with. They deal goods for specific lines of cars mainly.

HKS - Honda
NISMO - Nissan
Neuspeed - Mainly German cars
