As most of you know. Black people were brought to most western countries as slaves. After they were finally made free, they still were treated like they were not humans. Racism against blacks still continues today, and even though most whites are not racist anymore, they still are very ignorant of black people and black history. Most of our generation (late 1970s and up) have been taught all our lives that racism is wrong and most of us are appauled by the concept. It pisses us young white people off to be suspected to be racist by blacks, when our whole lives we have tried our best not to have anything to do with the practices of our ancestors. Most young black people today have been taught what there parents know of white people though the experiences in their lives. But they don't realize that the current generation of whites is very different then our parents or grandparents generation.
So the racism continues, but not by young white people, but by young black people. Believing all our life that people are people and it doesn't matter what your skin color, eye color, sex, ect, is, it pisses us off that there is a Black History month but no White History month, or Latino History month, or Asian History month. We have been taught that all people are equal but most young blacks have been taught the opposite. There older family members have experienced alot of persecution because of our ancestors and it's hard for them to believe that the current generation of whites is so different, so they teach their children to still be warry of the white man.
From alot of observation, I have noticed that most blacks feel that they are the minority, that it is hard for them to work because of supposed persecution, and that in general white people don't give a damn about them. So they bond together and cry out against the white man. They don't realize that this is very confusing to our generation, and that it makes us mad, because we ae being blamed for something we are against and we never have done. It's like being accused of being a thief when you have never stole anything in your whole life.
If your constantly called a thief when you are not, after a while you dont care. Infact you think about being a theif, so what they say wont bother you anymore, because they would then be telling the truth. But if you fall into that trap of insensitivity and apathy, the racism continues and were back to square one. Although there is hope. Slowly but surely more and more whites and blacks are being united and through the media racism is slowly disolving on both "sides."
Did I hit the ball on how most of you feel? Can I get an AMEN!!
