I'm moving to Europe as soon as I can afford it. I can easily get a one way ticket now, but I don't know what I'd do once I got there, and I don't want an Italian wife. But that's the only thing I want to do for myself in this life, if you can call getting a nice house in beautiful Italy for my family so we can live easily is for myself.

I've taken Spanish, German, and I'm taking French now. After I'm done with French I'm going to take Italian, then Japanese, then Portugese. My goal in life is to have no language barrier, no matter where in the world I go.

I have no idea where in Italy I want to live, I'm going on a vacation to Europe for three weeks this summer, just going to lots and LOTS of different places during those three weeks. England, German, France, Italy, Spain... So I'll spot out where I like then I suppose.
All I know is that I'm going to live on the Mediterranean Beaches of Italy, maybe Corsica or Sicily, but that area, with this house:

All open area with seperate little rooms not connected directly to each other... a huge vaulted ceiling in the living room, maybe 20 feet high, with a long drape hanging down the center of the main wall with ivy along insets on either side of it. 6 foot windows, one low and one high directly above... I've got it all planned out. I just need the money and a wife and daughter to live there with.

Looks like you've got it planned out Moose, and that's good, success comes from planning early and working towards your goals. I like your doorless house , really, it's like one of those houses in those movies where people are walking down the little village road and people say hi from the windows. I want to live in an apartment in Bern, Canton Bern, Switzerland at first. I'll meet a nice girl who's going to college in Basel (the university city of central Europe), and get married and move into a house. I really like Dutch style houses, you know, the ones that are light brown with the dark brown wooden beam inset into the walls. Like , just ignore the tank and machineguns in the picture...it's from a game. Only I'd want it super futuristic inside. I want to work for Porsche AG in Wessiech, Germany (just outside of Stuttgart), about 100 miles away. I want to design the metals and plastics in the car, design the chemical processes to make components, and other stuff, maybe even aerodynamics. I've got it planned out too, just need to go to college and get that job at Porsche. If I don't, there's other companies, but I'll look around anyway. So far, I'm planning on going to WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute), and major in chemical engineering, and get a minor in mechanical engineering. My liberal arts degree will be in German and Japanese languages (yeah, I gotta learn German...I'm taking French now). I just visited WPI 2 days ago, really awesome, and I got a sweater. They have to let me in if I bought a sweater .

[edit]
Look at the careers as a grad student at Porsche AG, so good! , and here's about the in Weissach, DE, they even have a streaming video about it...although it doesn't work...I just read throught the Graduate brochure, I'd like to start out in the Design department, designing the components, then maybe when I'm experienced, move into the Experimental department, where you create the cars of the future. Here's the . They seem to be looking continually for new engineers, and they keep blabbering on about "devotion" to the company, and I'd DEFINITELY fit that catergory. Yeah, when I start college in 2004, I'll contact Porsche AG von Weissach, DE, and talk to them about a future position, I mean, asking for a job 4 years in advance? That means devotion.

Just went on Mapquest, and they say that Bern to Weissach is over 2 hours! It's 200 miles, and it says to pretty much take Autobahn 2 all the way up, but what speed do they say? If they mean 65mph, then yeah, but at 140mph, it's a lot faster. Oh well, even Zurich is closer.

French and German are really similar, if you know one then you'll be able to learn the other in no time. The grammar and things are identical, basically you just change your vocabulary and pronunciation. Some words are even the same in Germ/French such as class, book, ... so on. But French is fun because their vocabulary is so limited, they use the same words for lots of different meanings and have tons of little sayings that don't translate to any particular meaning. It's a very interesting language, very unique in that way.

[Edit] and that house of mine is going to be out secluded on the beach, it's not going to be in the middle of some town with people walking all around and through it. It's going to be nice and private.

What about having your own little island Moose? OH! There was this commerical a long time ago, where this guy is in a boat, rowing to this little island. He gets there, and he gets in his VW Golf (this was like, in 1993), he starts up, and drives up the road for about 2 seconds, and stops at his house. That's the whole island; they show the odometer, and it says something like 25 miles in total. HILARIOUS!

That is a nice dream Moose, I can't wait til I can sit on the balcony of my apartment overlooking the whole city. I want the top floor of the building so I can have an awesome view.

Look at this of an apartment building in canton Vaud, now that's a view! Vaud is way too south for me, that'll take forever to get up to Germany. Maybe in the future, I can take the super train to work at 300mph... That apartment is about $200,000, that's not bad, the apartments are the whole floor.

[edit] French is a crazy language, but I like it. I'm in my 3rd year of it. The structure is different from German, in German the verb goes at the end, in French, the adjective does. And as you probably know, everything in French is spelled in a crazy way, but after a year or two, you get the grip on the structure of how to spell and pronounce words you don't know. You don't have that problem in German, stuff is spelled like how it sounds. I'm really good at foreign language, I love it, German will be the easiest for me, because it's the easiest to pronounce. Japanese will be fun, because it's different and challenging. In the future, I'd like to learn Russian, Hebrew, and Czechoslovakian. Hey, that'll be my plan to meet a chic in Switzerland, I'll take Hebrew language at a college and meet a Jewish chic there. Oh yeah 8).

I've been thinking Moose, what about citizenship? How long can you last on a green card? I know that in Switzerland, you have to serve in the army every year, but according to Israeli law, it'll be illegal for me to serve in a foreign military. That'll get confusing, but oh well, I have plenty of time to figure it out.
