The E3 demo of Doom3 has been leaked. According to this thread http://www.quake3world.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/060281.html there's a IRC log featuring ID's Xian who says ATI leaked the alpha, but I don't know how reliable the log is.

Enough post writing already, time to track the alpha down and see what kind of speed my poor P3 can get. Hope I get it running @ >5fps :P

yah, I accidently stumbled upon it a couple of minutes ago. I was thinking doom 3? already? it's just crazy how fast such a game spreads around the net, I wasn't even looking for warez :\

Ya, I found it on VE3D.com, a news article. But I didn't download it. The screenshots of the game looked HORRIBLE, and it was a pretty large download. Plus the framerates never got above 15 in the screenshots that one person took.

You mean horrible as in oooh scary monsters and evil brainsucking zombies right? coz the graphics are superb from all the shots i've seen

Maybe the guy just didn't have an r300 at his disposal ;)

I'm sure it would run like crap on my mx2 but it would be one heck of a beautiful slideshow =]

No, the colors were all washed out, it was bland... just plain ugly. And the hallways were pretty sparce, also. But of course it's an alpha, and it was meant to run slowly because it was a test for graphics card manufacturers.

I also didn't download it because it took people forever and a day to get it to work. They had to monkey around with pak and config files and blah blah blah, Oi!

The graphics in Doom 3 need to be adjusted to. Most people don't like monotonous space-station hallways, but its perfect to scare the crap out of you with a good looking monster. :D

Maybe the guy just lowered the quality so much to get it to play. But that's not the point. With Doom3 I'd play full quality high res even if it rendered half a frame a second.

But it looks like I'm not going to be getting a Radeon 9700 Pro after all since they leaked the alpha. That's just not cool with me. I'm waiting for Nvidia now, and I was ready to get the Radeon, too. But ATI left a bad taste in my mouth with this stunt. Even if it was just one loser employer. They hired that employee and it's their liability.

You don't know what its like to play half a frame per second  You can't really appreciate the detail, or the game for that matter, if it renders that slow. At least most people can't.

I actually knew about the alpha the day it was released, and was able to get it consequently, so I've been playing with it for a while.

When this thing is optimized, it will look as great as people say, even better. And, NO it wasn't neccecarily ATI! That log was faked, it's been falsified by Xian himself.

It's still a very impressive alpha, the shadows are a bit rough.

Try turning up the brightness and gamma to 1.5.

Also, THIS is why beta leaks are so bad, people get bad opinions on it, and won't buy the final game based on an opinion from a what was supposed to be a non-interactive beta.
