Try some of those Japanese Language CD's. They're all pretty good. The one I have shows the word, shows it in kanji characters (or whatever they're called) and speaks it. It came with a full fledged dictionary with multiple means of searching, also.)

I want to take Japanese in college, along with German.

A dictionary won't tell you the grammar though, just search for a school Japanese book on the Internet, it should be somewhere.

I got a grammer book (or rather someone gave it to me). But it only uses the roman letters that sound like the Kanji symbols. Also, I am using a gba game in japanese as a fun way to teach myself how to read the language so I need a dictionary to help me look up certain words. I tried the ppc electronic dictionary but had no luck with it.
