System of A Down - Steal This Album

On 11/26, System of a Down released their 3rd CD, not really a "full" CD, it's a collection of songs that didn't make it on Toxicity, some outtakes from Toxicity, and a bunch of songs written even before their first CD. I've listened to Inner Vision, and it's a really good song. All the reviews like it, saying that it's not Grade-B, that many of the songs that got cut from Toxicity are just as good as songs that weren't. I'll be sure to get a copy ASAP. Actually, my mom and my sister are at the mall right now, if I'm lucky, they'll pick up a copy for me for Hanukkah. It's really cheap, but if they get it, it better not be censored!

Meh.. I liked SoaD's first album, but it's gotten steadily worse after that.

Are those songs written before System of a Down the original demo recordings, or did they re-record and master the songs for the album?

Don't know, but none of the reviews said anything about bad sound quality, so it must be fine. You'll like it if you like the old stuff, reviewers say it's a look back into SOAD's past and a look forward into what could be on SOAD's 3rd full album release.

I have intensely listened to the whole album, Steal This Album!, and it is fantastic. Why? Mainly because 14 out of the 16 songs are AWESOME! Chic 'N' Stu is great, about pizza and politics. Innervision is a slower but heavy song. Bubbles is great, about polical struggles and bubble jungles. Boom! is about the manufacturing of bombs to destroy 3rd world countries, a good powerful song. Nuguns is simply hilarious and meaningless, what's a nugun? The song is fast and jumpy like Chic 'N' Stu. A.D.D. which stands for American Dream Denial, is a politically powerful song, with a lot of really fast senseless screaming. Mr. Jack is a sadder song, about, well, Mr. Jack, it's slow, very heavy, and just sad; a very good song. I-E-A-I-A-O is a fantastic song, the chorus is like a ritual cult hymn, with crazy fast lyrics inbetween, hilarious!! 36 is a 46 second song, and I don't like it, it's just monotonous drums. Pictures is an ok song, meh, it's just the chorus is just "I've got pictures on my mind!" over and over, and over and over and over...not that good. Highway Song is good overall song, medium speed, not too heavy, not light, just an excellent overall song good with melodic singing. F**k The System is, well, a typical crazy outrageous System song, crazy singing, jumpy silly guitar, and even silly singing noices. Ego Brain is a great song, slow, melodic, emotional, great guitar, and the bass goes so well, and the flute solo is perfect. Thetawaves is fast jumpy song, but with a melodic chorus, very good. Roulette is actually a ballad with only acoustic guitar and chello, very good, very emotional, absolutely a great song. Many metal/hard rock bands are making ballads on their CDs, Stone Sour has Bother, MuDvAyNe has World So Cold, but Roulette is the best of the ballads. Streamline is the last song on the CD, coming right after the slow emotional melodic Roulette, and is a perfect SOAD finish, it's very fast, heavy, the opposite of Roulette, yet is quite melodic at times too, very good.

Overall - 98%, only because the song 36 is crap, and Pictures is ok, but mainly because of 36. This CD ain't no "Grade-B" CD, it's a masterpiece.

Most of the songs (if not all) are about politics, I like Bubbles, power struggles and bubble jungles!
