The brain in terms for all you computer nerds.

It's going to be three times faster than the fastest super computer today and able to compete with the human brain, but they forgot to mention the ASTRONOMICAL proportions of the giant BUILDING that the NEC Earth Simulator is housed in.

The brain and computer store and calculate in very different fashions. They really shouldn't be compared. Like Palms and PPC, apples and oranges :P.

But anyway, my brain does really funky relationship stuff. If I forget a word I'll try to remember it and I'll say "it starts with a G" . When I finally think of the word I was looking for it actually will start with a "B" instead. But my brain knew exactly what it was talking about. I associate words in a very unusual way. If I had my way I'd create my own language or rearrange the current one so that it worked fluently with my brain. If I did that I'd increase my processing power 10 fold since I wouldn't have to stop and try to figure out a word just to represent myself worldly.

Hmm... I wonder if it's possible to emulate a processor (for starters, how about a simple 8-bit one) inside your brain. You'd only have to remember every assembly instruction as well as the entire state of memory (how about only 30 or so k). Then, of course, there would be I/O.

It would be interesting to try...
