Computer Upgrades

Postby Mechcommander » Dec 19, 2002 @ 2:39am

Well all, I've been thinking about upping my comp. So, I decided to post a bunch of the stuff here, and let you guys list your specs and what you want here. And, if you can, list a good, reliable buisness (Online or offline) where we can take a look.
My specs:
AMD Athlon 1.33 Ghz Thunderbird
256MB's of SDRAM
20GB HD, 5400 RPM
48x16x48x Burner
6x Reader
GeForce3 Ti200
Biostar Motherboard w/ VIA chipset

What I really want to get:
M/B that supports DDR
DDR RAM
GeForce4 Ti4400
60GB HD 7200 RPM

I knew i spend this money for a good reason... to show my specs off.
:P

Specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2100+
512 MB DDR RAM
140 Gig HD (8 MB cache)
GeForce4 Ti 4400
-(dual monitor for programming)
-Video in and out (XBOX gaming)
DVD drive
USB 2.0 (4 ports)
5.1 sound (2 sound cards... i for 5.1 and one that came integrated)
you run of the mill netword card
and Gentoo Linux ()
(I sadly dual boot WinXP Pro for PPC comunication and Windows compatability testing for my projects)

What i want:
More computers so I can build a beowolf cluster :D
or More parts so I can build another computer.

At work I use a Sun Workstation running 3 CPUs (can go up to 8)
but my home computer could kick it any day at standard games and apps.
What it is good at is multi users servics (Grid computing...)

The sad story:
Santa won't be bringing me any of the things on the want list as my parents say I spend too much time and money on computers anyway.
1 + 1 = 3 for large values of 1.
Now clean of all Crash code :)
