I just found a cure. It works, but you have to wait 5 mins before the game starts, without resetting. Kinda annoying, but at least it works. My guess is that the DVD lens lost some of its power from wear and tear, thus taking longer to recognize that a disc is in the drive.

Ya, my Playstation's lens also went bad. I sent it in to someplace and had it repaired. They said it was a very common problem.

Yeah, but later ROM versions of the Playstation (1) don't allow for the swap bug.
