Ok now that ive fixed all my sound problems with windows 98 (I ended up just getting second edition) Ive noticed a increase in performance overall, but in some games I have severe framerate drops and others I dont ( 60-100 fps ) The only thing I can figure is that I didnt install fan control drivers (they didnt install, just got some error) and thats whats affecting it. Is there anything else that could be affecting my performance?

Yup, graphics card drivers. Some games use DirectX or OpenGL. They're very different systems and the drivers need to be optimised for both.

www.3dchipset.com

Get your drivers from there. I can't see what use installing fan drivers would be, though.

The sony fan control drivers should be on one of the cds that came with your vaio, in a folder called fancontrol.
