Maybe someone hacked in and put your desktop's MAC address on the ban list on your router.

We had a similar problem back on Friday when I was at a LAN party at a friends. We all had trouble seeing each others computers until we figured out to change all our IP addresses temporarily (along with the subnet mask)
I never would've thought that Norton would have done that though.

you have to at least be on the same subnet to see each other.
But Norton will just decide to block other computers out of the blue.

I must say, that's one of the only things I like about XP, is the Network Wizard.
Even though the damn XP computer was stubborn at the LAN parties I've had (5-8 people, all running 98, or 2K, besides the 1 XP machine)
