I'd better get in on the screenshot action!

No name yet, the engine is almost finished but then I have to work on the actual gameplay (lots of ideas but haven't nailed down the finished rules yet). I'll be formally announcing it once I get at least a little bit of gameplay in there (e.g. scoring). Right now I'm working on the level editor and various dialogs.

It's a little hard to describe, I haven't seen any other games like it. It has completely flexible levels and graphics. It's like pinball, but with shuffleboard action. the engine is like Quake. (Yeah, I know. I should make simpler games. I couldn't help myself.)

It's being developed using GapiDraw 2.04, but when it is closer to finished I'll decide whether to move to 2.05, PocketHAL, PocketFrog, or whatever.

denthorq: Nice game! I can't wait to try it out, please include me in your beta.

fzammetti: Your game reminds me of those endless hours I spent playing Wario Ware Inc. on my GBA SP. May I ask when will you be releasing the game? :)

ppcstudios: Looking forward to Oct. 27th! Will you be giving discounts to beta players? ;)

starfury: Nice one. I suggest putting some cool space stuff on the background. It'll enhance the game just like what denthorq did. :)

HTK: Cool game!

mlepage: I've seen your game from your site and I'm so curious to try it out. Please include me in your beta too. :)

Well, looks like the next months 'til December are going to be exciting months for the pocket pc gaming industry. :) Unfortunately, I can't post any screenshot of my upcoming game yet but I'll post them soon as I have something to show-off.

The target date is 1/1 '04, but I frankly don't think we're going to make that date. I'm now thinking some time in February is most likely.

Damn my employer for making me actually have to do some work all of a sudden! No more weeks on end of nothing to do that I can instead work on my own non work-related stuff. I don't know who they think they are... just because they pay me they think they can make me do work for them? Bastards! ;)

Yes, I'm in the U.S. No, I'm salaried so no extra money for over eight hours. That's why I make it known that except for extreme emergencies, I don't work over 40 hours a week, period. And I don't consider other people f'ing up and holding me up as an extreme emergency, regardless of what deadline is looming.

For instance, the current project I'm leading we've been told that it absolutely, positively HAS to be done by December 22nd, and in fact it's been promised to clients already. Now, when they asked me for an estimate, I told them not before February. Well, the business people said nope, I don't care if it's impossible, it has to be done in December. So, I'm like ok, fine, whatever, it's going to get done when it gets done because I'm not putting in 60 hours work weeks, fire me if you don't like it. And now the project is in serious jeopardy of not making that December date (big f'ing surprised, should have just listened to the person actually DOING THE WORK in the first place). Even with the lousy economy abd terrible job market I don't think I'd be out of work too long (not that I want to test that theory mind you, but I still believe it to be true).

But, this is pretty much typical of any company these days, so there's no real point in bitching about it I suppose.

Besides, it's my own fault really... I keep saying every year that this is my last year there, I'm totally fed up with all the crap, yet I've been there eight years now. Things are different when you have a family and a house, changing jobs comes with a whole lot more anxiety then it did when it was just me and my wife.

(How this relates to upcoming games I don't quite know :) )

You need to be like me, have your employer company go under so you can devote more time to your own programming. :-)

The way the lunatics are running the asylum, that's not far off :)

Seriously though, if I had any money in the bank at all, or the job market wasn't horrendous, I would have been gone a long time ago. There was a time when I loved this job, but the last two years or so have really been down-hill, and it's just getting worse. Very sad.
