What do governments do?
* Set rules for people; and often punishes them if they don't follow the rules. Christianity does this.
* Taxes it's members. The catholic church certainly does this, and so do most other Christian churches.
* Influences control over the population; whether it be through idealogical means, or physical. Christianity is all about idealogical control.
* Seeks to increase its influence. Christianity does this.
* Protects it's members; the Christian church does this -- although I think it also creates (from thin air) many of the percieved threats.
What are the differences between a government and a religion? Very subtle, if any, in my book.
What is power, Caesar? Define that word, and you might just understand why I say christianity is a religion of disempowerment.
