Help with PPC

okay luci, listen real carefully, cause i'm only going to respond once.  Open up notes, whether you do this with the new notes button on the today screen or clicking on a note in file explorer or you actually have a shortcut to just notes.  If you have opened a note, hit OK to 'close' it, but DONT close out of notes.  Now, (or if you just opened Notes) you should see a list of all the notes (little yellow paper looking things) on your PPC residing in your my documents folder(s).  At the bottom of the screen you will se a menu that consits of New or Tools or A graphical representation of a Tape Cassette.  If there is anything else on the bottom of the screem, such as 'Edit' or a graphical represntation of a Pen, you have already failed to listen, you are still in a Note, go back to the beginning of this paragraph and try again.  Tap on the word 'Notes' once, and it should bring up two new options (if it didnt' you tapped on the wrong word, try again) 'Recieve Via Infrared' and 'Options...'.  Next you want to tap (once) on the word 'Options...', this will bring up the options menu.  Here you will see 4 boxes with arrows on the right sides of them.  The first bo is under the words 'default mode:' in the box 'Typing' is highlighted if it is, THATS your problem, tap (once)on the box and it will bring up a second option 'Writing' tap (once) on the word 'writing'and hten tap (once) on hte 'OK button, normally located in the upper right corner of your screen on the toolbar.  If this does not solve your problems, then I can no longer help you.<br><br>Do not confuse tapping on the little pencil/pen/chalk icon with "switching Default mode to Writing" they are not the same thing.

Jay, not wanting to abuse, but do you know if is it possible to eliminate the date column or at least shrink it so that the title column has a bigger space (i.e, all of the title can be displayed)?

not that i know of, short of using a reg editor to change the size of the system font.  Or editing the registry to make the scrollbar smaller.
