ppc 2002 mail bug

ppc 2002 mail bug

Postby charlie » Feb 1, 2002 @ 6:37am

I found a reproducible (for me) bug in the standard mail app on my ipaq 3765 (ppc 2002). When I check my pop3 mail manually by pressing the button at the bottom of the screen with the 2 envelopes, everything is fine. When I leave ppc mail connected constantly to check my mail for me (the button to the left of the 2 envelope button) no mail is delivered to my inbox. My mail server doesn't drop incoming messages, they just get queued up in the server until a little while after I disconnect. They show up sometimes about an hour later. I've been able to consistently reproduce it.

What I'm thinking is that since it keeps the connection open, ppc mail has my inbox open for read and the mail server blocks and can't deliver messages to it. Has anyone seen this before? Is there a workaround so I can have mail poll my inbox automatically without holding it open so I can get my messages delivered? Could it just be a problem with my server?

thanks
charlie

Maybe you just don't have it set to automatically check the mail every so often.
