As for censorship, I think rap (namely Eminem) is much more violent. Heavy metal sounds violent, but is it really? For example, Slipknot. They are the leader of heavy metal, but look at the lyrics, violent? Heavy metal sounds always refer to "you", like in My Plague - Slipknot, the part "kill you, f*** you, I will never be you, Your impossible ego fuck is like a Megalomaniacal tab on my tongue You f***in' touch me I will rip you apart
I'll reach in and take a bite out of that Sh** you call a heart!" See, who is "you"? It's no one, so how can it be taken seriously? They go so far, that it's silly. The most common "violence" in lyrics is the retoricle statement, example: Metabolic - Slipknot, the part that goes "I'm ready to die, but you're killin' me. I'm ready to die, but you're killin' me" That obviously doesn't make any sense, and shouldn't provoke violence. Overall, I just don't see how, when a singer is "singing" about killing/maiming/etc "you". Now look at Eminem. He talks about choking a woman while raping her and stabbing her with a knife. Violent? YES! But what I think is worse, is the songs about his mom, saying straight out that he wants to kill his mom and stuff. When the random violence is targeting a specific person/group, then the violence can be taken more seriously, and hence crosses the line. I just heard this crap rap song my sister was listening to, it went something like "I'm gonna cap that mothafu**in' cop in the f***in' head, gonna be his brains f***in' spew on the something something. I's got me beotch in ma pants, suckin' it bangin' it." and so on. I thought it was horribly gross. Rap can be just as violent, or even more violent than rock. And what about all the sexual orientation? MORE THAN enought in rap!!! NONE in rock or metal. God, what those asses say, like that stupid Nelly, "it's gettin' hot in here, so take off all your clothes. (chic) I will take my clothes off". Little girls (like my sister) listen to this crap, and I say it's a lot more influential than the lyrics of heavy metal. Saying it's ok to take off all your clothes if it gets too hot. You know what song makes me sick? Boys by Britney Spears!! "Boys! Get nasty! Boys, 'cause she's in control. Boys, get nasty!". We all know what get nasty means, and it's just gross. Yup, she's a sweet innocent virgin *cries from laughing*. Little girls of course listen to Britney Spears, and now she's saying to get nasty with boys??? I think "boys, get nasty!" should have more media attention than "Dig! Bury me! Everything that I aaamm! Rearranging" (from Dig - MuDvAyNe) or "Have you ever been inside the new masterpiece...Rest! Rembrandt as my right hand and Solo as my pilot!" (from Solitaire/Unraveling - Mushroomhead). or "Who's next!! All right!! Hanging on a meathook in my basement. Who's next!! All right!! With the f***in' bruised knees in the black shirt!" (from Same Solution - Nothingface). or "falling away from me" (Korn). I mean, come on!! What the hell does "Wired were the eyes of the horse on a jet pilot, one that smiled as it flew over the bay!" mean?!?!?!?!? "Pushing little children, with their fully automatics, they like to push the weak around!" I think rapping about whores, bitches, and killing you mom...are a lot worse than the meaningless verses of rock and metal. "Let the bodies hit the floor" (Drowning Pool), what does that mean? It's more of a clequé than influential. Heavy metal artists are not freaks, Joey from Slipknot (the main drummer), originally played for a jazz group! Ok, what should be censored? "If you're 555, I'm 666!!!" or "mom, I hate you!! I hope you burn in hell for this sh**!!". It's obvious, but just because the sound of rock and metal may feel violent, and just because they may scream, of course they're so violent, and should be banned~~~~~

I just hope the media doesn't say "look at Drowning Pool's lyrics, it's no surprise the singer died".

There are plenty more example of pop/rap that are obsean. Look at "Genie in a Bottle" by Christa Aguilara, singing about having to rub her the right way. And all those "bitch" rappers, like Fat Joe and Bubba Sparxxx, and those black/latina girls, like Ashanti and others. (Ashanti isn't bad though, and she's damn hot! :D). The one thing that does make me pissed, is look at the catergories for the VMAs this year. Rap, R&B, pop, hip hop, dance, and then finally, one single catergory, rock. Eminem is in nearly every catergory, except rock, the ones in rock are, System of A Down, Korn, POD, Linkin Park, Creed, and Jimmy Eat World. God, I HATE JIMMY EAT WORLD!! AHHHHH!!!! Last year, MuDvAyNe won for MTV2 award for Dig, but that makes it seem like rock and heavy metal are in the background, not popular, like it's the underground of music. Oh well, well, my sister was watching MTV this morning, and she said she saw a Slipknot and 3 System of a Down music videos. Anyway, if they don't meantion anything about Dave Williams are the VMA, I WILL be pissed, they did all that crap about Aaliyah, they better do something about Drowning Pool. Drowning Pool is more popular than Aaliyah, ALL the girls at my school listen to Drowning Pool, and no one even heard of Aaliyah. Well, we'll see.

Warren's pick for most random lyrics-
The Wrist by Mushroomhead

Led Astray By Their Mock Sincerity
False Charity
Condemned
Chewing Insult
Inheriting Unwarranted Birthright
Crown A Scapegoat
New King Of Shit
Ignorance Is Followed
By Ignorance
Repetition Diminishing Senses
Defenseless
Crippled Libido
Greedo Died By The Hand Of Solo

woot, go P.O.D.!

Warren, you seem to have a double standard. Sure "let the bodies hit the floor" could mean anything, i prefer to think that it means something along the lines of dancing. But "I'm going to kill you, you f'er" ... why the hell does it matter who "you" is?! You're trying to dodge the issue through silly technicalities that don't even make real sense. The point of it is it is refuring to killing, death, destruction, and other immoral behavior. Sure it incites violence in only about 2% of kids that listen to it. But it's violent and I don't understand the concept of wanting to listen to someone talking about killing, raping, or anything like that.

All I'm trying to do is get you to think about what kind of stuff you're letting in... and what kind of stuff you're endorsing with your money.

And P.O.D. rules!

I just mean that saying "you" is more rhetorical and meaningless than actually naming someone. P.O.D is good, but what do you think of Southtown? That can be considered violent. And look at the name of the band! Payable on Death. Anyway, I gonna go out soon to get the new Nonpoint CD, Developement, kickass! And I still need Mutter - Rammstein, and I'm thinking about getting Hatebreed's CD, Perseverance.

Maybe, but they still sound like they're similar, judging by Warren's description.

As for Rammstein, my R+ MP3s hit 1 gig yesterday! Huzzah!
