I'll reach in and take a bite out of that Sh** you call a heart!" See, who is "you"? It's no one, so how can it be taken seriously? They go so far, that it's silly. The most common "violence" in lyrics is the retoricle statement, example: Metabolic - Slipknot, the part that goes "I'm ready to die, but you're killin' me. I'm ready to die, but you're killin' me" That obviously doesn't make any sense, and shouldn't provoke violence. Overall, I just don't see how, when a singer is "singing" about killing/maiming/etc "you". Now look at Eminem. He talks about choking a woman while raping her and stabbing her with a knife. Violent? YES! But what I think is worse, is the songs about his mom, saying straight out that he wants to kill his mom and stuff. When the random violence is targeting a specific person/group, then the violence can be taken more seriously, and hence crosses the line. I just heard this crap rap song my sister was listening to, it went something like "I'm gonna cap that mothafu**in' cop in the f***in' head, gonna be his brains f***in' spew on the something something. I's got me beotch in ma pants, suckin' it bangin' it." and so on. I thought it was horribly gross. Rap can be just as violent, or even more violent than rock. And what about all the sexual orientation? MORE THAN enought in rap!!! NONE in rock or metal. God, what those asses say, like that stupid Nelly, "it's gettin' hot in here, so take off all your clothes. (chic) I will take my clothes off". Little girls (like my sister) listen to this crap, and I say it's a lot more influential than the lyrics of heavy metal. Saying it's ok to take off all your clothes if it gets too hot. You know what song makes me sick? Boys by Britney Spears!! "Boys! Get nasty! Boys, 'cause she's in control. Boys, get nasty!". We all know what get nasty means, and it's just gross. Yup, she's a sweet innocent virgin *cries from laughing*. Little girls of course listen to Britney Spears, and now she's saying to get nasty with boys??? I think "boys, get nasty!" should have more media attention than "Dig! Bury me! Everything that I aaamm! Rearranging" (from Dig - MuDvAyNe) or "Have you ever been inside the new masterpiece...Rest! Rembrandt as my right hand and Solo as my pilot!" (from Solitaire/Unraveling - Mushroomhead). or "Who's next!! All right!! Hanging on a meathook in my basement. Who's next!! All right!! With the f***in' bruised knees in the black shirt!" (from Same Solution - Nothingface). or "falling away from me" (Korn). I mean, come on!! What the hell does "Wired were the eyes of the horse on a jet pilot, one that smiled as it flew over the bay!" mean?!?!?!?!? "Pushing little children, with their fully automatics, they like to push the weak around!" I think rapping about whores, bitches, and killing you mom...are a lot worse than the meaningless verses of rock and metal. "Let the bodies hit the floor" (Drowning Pool), what does that mean? It's more of a clequé than influential. Heavy metal artists are not freaks, Joey from Slipknot (the main drummer), originally played for a jazz group! Ok, what should be censored? "If you're 555, I'm 666!!!" or "mom, I hate you!! I hope you burn in hell for this sh**!!". It's obvious, but just because the sound of rock and metal may feel violent, and just because they may scream, of course they're so violent, and should be banned~~~~~
I just hope the media doesn't say "look at Drowning Pool's lyrics, it's no surprise the singer died".
There are plenty more example of pop/rap that are obsean. Look at "Genie in a Bottle" by Christa Aguilara, singing about having to rub her the right way. And all those "bitch" rappers, like Fat Joe and Bubba Sparxxx, and those black/latina girls, like Ashanti and others. (Ashanti isn't bad though, and she's damn hot!
