I do follow my faith very closely, but I am not a zealot or a "Jesus freak." I don't have a fish on my car, but my faith is very open.

I've seen things, things have happened to me through my religion. If I wasn't a fanatic about it then something would be seriously wrong with me!

And you know what sandmann, I'm talking about NOW. *grinds teeth* I am so sick of this garbage about the Crusades and Nazi's and blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda. Sure that stuff happened. But that's not the way things are now, and that's not what the religion was about then. ARGH! FUCKING GARBAGE, this is making me SO ANGRY! DO YOU THINK, do you ACTUALLY think that anywhere in the Bible it says "priests should take advantage of the poor and ignorant by making them buy incredibly expensive 'passes' into heaven." ???!?!!??!?! You know what!? Jesus SPOKE OUT AGAINST THAT! Jesus, the CENTER OF CHRISTIANITY, did the same thing you just did. He said that those priests doing that were evil and messed up. Jesus healed Gentiles, he sheltered them, he helped these 'heathens.' He SPOKE OUT against killing heathens, aka Gentiles. And you KNOW WHAT?! JEWS PERSECUTED THE FIRST CHRISTIANS. JEWS KILLED CHRIST (for better, of course, but still). JEWS HUNTED DOWN THE APOSTLES. So don't act like CHRISTIANS persecuted JEWS, alright?!

I am MOST DEFINITELY a fanatic! I have seen Jesus work in people's lifes, I have felt the Holy Spirit come into my heart. I have seen miraculous healings. I have seen others speak in tounges, I've done it myself.
If all of this happened to me and I didn't follow Christianity (because it was clearly connected to this religion) then something would be seriously wrong with me.
But I don't blindly follow it. I learn about it all the time. Like how the Bible hasn't changed since 300 B.C.E! And also things like there are inconsistencies and anachronisms within the books and across the books.

And if you want to talk about persecution, how about the Muslim terrorists that said it's okay to kill innocent by-standers because if they're good Muslims then they'll go to Heaven and if they're not then they deserve to die.
Can you quit trying to say that Christians are the worst group of people in the world today and always? Because they NOT. And if you think every Christian is such a horrible person, then why don't you try it out and show us all how to do it. I'd love to have a present day role model. Atleast I'm TRYING to be a model Christian, yet you still ridicule me BECAUSE of it. I try my best to not be a hypocrite, I try my best not to judge, I try my best to think about others all the time. And I'm doing okay at it, sure I slip up. But the point is you ridicule Christians for being bad, but then you turn around and ridicule Christians for being good, for being what the Bible says a Christian SHOULD be.

That's all fine and dandy, but I'm talking about Christianity today, what it's beliefs are, etc.

That doesn't sound like a Crusade if they killed Muslims, Jews, and Christians, as a Crusade is a war against a religion.

The Crusades were a series of Christian military movements in the 11th to 13th century to recover, read: RECOVER, the Holy Land from the Muslims. Recover meaning it was Christians' to begin with and they took it back from the Muslims because the Muslims invaded early and captured it. Straight from The 21st Century Webster's Encyclopedia, Revised Edition, published by Trident Press International in 2000.

So if I prove my point I'm egotistical and stubborn, but if you prove your point you're... what again?

I agree that cloning organs and stuff will be great for the medicine world, but I really hope no one tries to clone a human. (or have they) cuz that's messed up. Especially if ppl start getting "custom" kids that's also messed up.

They've tried primates, and they're UNABLE to do it. It just... WON'T WORK. There's no other way to explain it. It just doesn't work. That's just COOL! And FASCINATING
http://www.msnbc.com/news/525661.asp
Fertilizing through cloning techniques... It works 1 out of 277 tries with sheep. They're trying to do it with humans. But I don't see a problem with that. That's just like fertilization. But it just won't work :D

---

And this is some wealth of knowledge these days! Look at it, we're able to decode the DNA that animals are made out of, we know what those things do and we're able to change them, reproduce them. WOW, That's like, the highest level of science we can get about the human body. Being able to change it at will, interpretting what every little bit of code in it means. FASCINATING! Huh... and it all comes down to a perfectly organized string of code, not random, not coincidental. That code tells anyone that can read it exactly what's up with that person. FASCINATING! Man, o man.

And then we've got the Internet! I can communicate with someone across the world and have my text instantly translated into their language. It's like there's one world wide language, the internet! And it's wealth of information! You can get anything off the internet you want! And it's all so organized.

And then we've got that great Euro over there in Europe. You can go from any nation to any other in nearly all of Europe and be able to use a single unified form of currency. And it's going strong, too. It's more stable than the US dollar, and more valuable. And with the internet it tells me the price of things in whatever form of money I want it to, so there's already like one form of money, the internet! FASCINATING!

This internet is such a great thing to unify everybody, every language, every form of currency. We might as well be one nation, the internet. But split into four continents, you know... You might be able to call them, four kingdoms? FASCINATING!

I apologize if I overlooked anything in those millions of lines of thread, but here's what I have to say to Moose: historically, Christians have been a horrible people... throughout wars, crusades, spinning of faith, etc. Today they are not bad people, indeed among the best and friendliest. I do not like the Church's policies, but that does not change people from being good. I KNOW what the Bible says Moose, once again do I have to prove to you that I am Christian? I know it doesn't say that Christians should kill other people. I DO know what people who branded themselves Christian have done, and it is no different from the radical Muslims today. They twist a good religion and do terrible things in its name. The crusades, 9/11, there is no difference. So there.
The fates lead him who will;
Him who won't, they drag.

sandmann, I'm not looking for anyone to prove anything to me. I just want some good conversation, some calm conversation (I probably blew that one more than anyone else), and some thought provoking conversation.
And sure Christians have a bloody past. Every group of people has at some point, without trying to trivialize anything one way or another. But I want to have a discussion about the religion, not the people...

but here goes another topic change!

And what about all this stuff about aliens? Do any of you believe in aliens? I used to, a little. LOL, actually I thought I was abducted by aliens and they implanted something in my left arm... it's still there, whatever it is. But I really don't think there are, anymore. Atleast no life anywhere else that could communicate with us. There might be mold somewhere else... But I really don't think there is life anywhere else in the universe. ... and *starts nodding head* ya, that is because of my religious beliefs. I have SETI@Home running on my desktop, it's fun. But I really don't think it's gonna happen. If there was life, it would have happened by now. The universe is teeming with planets everywhere. We're kind of in the middle of the galaxy's ring, so we're not the oldest, and we're not the newest planet according to Big Bang. So if there's some older planet then there would be more time for life to have evolved much further than we are now. They'd be sending out radio signals and would have for a LONG time, constantly, prior to us. And there are so many planets. You'd think that we'd have heard something by now. Think of the possibilities out there. So many stars "older" than ours. We're all talking about how it takes lightyears for the light of that start to get to us. So it's been apparently millions of years! Well it doesn't take millions of years to send a signal into space. It takes about 2 thousand, and then it would take about that million years to get here, probably less. So I'm sure we would have gotten something by now. Everyone's saying "Think of the possiblities, there's just got to be life." I say "think of the possibilites, life would have already contacted us by now."
