yeah, but thats called something else... like S-WiFI or something, isn't it?

Anyway, animal farm was an okay book. I had to read it and write a book report on it, and that kinda pissed me off :D

Anyway, I think the whole book was stupid, and an attack on the us of a.

Yeah, Animal Farm was about communism and how it fails to deliver upon its promises of a utopian society. 1984 was about the possibility of a totalitarian world which is self-sufficient, doesn't even have any leaders, and tyrannizes itself. While it might have to do with the threat/scare of communism last century, it was also about what would happen if the tyranny went too far.

But seriously, guys, you're going too far with this. Just because Microsoft and Intel produced some wacko idea does NOT mean we will be soon living in a dictatorship.

I hate it how people have been saying the "1984 was only X years off" thing all the time.

[Sorry Warren if I was a redundant, but I posted without seeing your message. Also, ORWELL WAS NOT AN AMERICAN! He was British. Seriously... ]

[And sorry, sandmann, that I used the eye-rolling smiley. ]

Oh, and the USSR had voting too. Too bad that only one party was on the ballot...

1984 is one of the greatest literary achivment of the 20th century. And Animal Farm just says "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutly" it cites communism because that was the big buzz of "perfect government" at the time, not to say that communism is the only corruptable government.

Orwell himself fought for the communists in the spanish civil war. At the time he was under the belief that communism was utopia. After the Communist army fell apart because its leaders fell victim to power's corruption each trying to rule as dictators themselves, Orwell became a strong beliver in "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutly" and so wrote Animal Farm to drive that point home to the masses of hopefuls who still belived in humanity's competence.

After seeing just how far it could go Orwell wrote 1984 to show it. It is because of that book each one of you is free to some degree today. Unfortunatly for us all the man has found a way around 1984's teachings. The government will pass bill after bill regulation after regulation in the name of "keeping the nation free" until freedom is a distant memory of days gone by. And the masses will be dumb enough to go along with it because heah everyone hates terrorists.
