Except that DDR RAM is identical to SDRAM and the only difference is the northbridge chipset on the motherboard.

Identical? How come? For the PC, for example, DDR has more pins.

Should just ban guest posting anyway, or at least in Gen PPC and anything forums, but meh.

Nah, I dislike forums that require that you register before you can post.

I must admit I wasn't completely sure... I was pretty sure the RAM chips themselves are different between SDR and DDR, but I went and checked. The closes to a real answer I could find was this newsgroup posting:

[/url]

I admit this isn't authorative, but since it backs up what I thought before, I'll assume it's correct :)

(This is just informative at this point mind you, for all of us)

So? That's just someone BSing on a message board just like we're both doing. And according to the way I read it it affirms my point as well: "The arrays are the same, but the I/O circuitry is significantly different." Which means the chips are the same, but the DIMM circuitry going to the motherboard chipset is different...

anyway, if there are differences between SDR and DDR RAM then the cost of the difference is practically nill and thus could easily be implemented into PXA255 PocketPCs in order to take advantage of the doubling of the front side bus' data rate.

Die, Palm, Die. If that offended you, then get rid of your Palm OS device.
