What if, hypothetically, Saddam resigns? I mean, it takes a lot of will to challenge a direct American threat.

I'm afraid that if he does choose to fight, he'll do something drastic.

Sigen, I never said that France and Germany were "joining Mexico", I said they were dumbasses just like you.

Our interests are in expansionism? HHHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! That's almost as good as the "war for oil" argument. If our purpose was to expand, we would colonize Iraq. We are not colonizing, we are setting up a new government. Whether it works or not is a non-issue, because we worked in the way we find most valuable; setting up a democratic system (not to mention billions of dollars in aid). It's really unbelievable that France and them are using this argument.

We are the only non-imperialistic superpower in history (that I know of). I'm not sure whether we have ever officially had a colony, and I know we came close with Puerto Rico/Hawaii/Phillipines, but all in all we haven't been a colonial power, by CHOICE. It goes against our values as a nation, and to resist such an opportunity for power because it interferes with our VALUES is one of the most noble things I've ever seen a nation do.

As far as your "history is written by the winner" argument is concerned, I really don't see what it has to do with anything. The FACTS are there, we are FAR from what Germany was in WWII era. We are, in fact, QUITE the opposite from Germany. We aren't beefing up our military to threaten our neighbors; in fact, we've had good relations with our neighbors in MODERN times. We aren't attempting national purification, in fact, we encourage diversity; it's one of our strongest points. So next time maybe you should think about what you're saying before you spew routine rhetoric straight out of the "How to Hate America" handbook.

thank god for sandman...glad to see someone picking up the torch while I was at the gym.

SiGen...you moron...what 3rd world country that the U.S. forgave infinite loans to are you from? And, learn how to spell Iraq.

FOR THE RECORD:

The Oil Argument - Is completely invalid, because the U.S. will not occupy Iraq. This is evidenced by The Gulf War. However, France retains drilling rights to a large number of oil fields in Iraq. So they have a vested interest in keeping Sadam in powerer Who is fighting, or not, for oil?
