But the point is to get rid of paper, and to purchase cool new technology before anyone else. And when you write it on the Tablet you can either save it as your own handwriting and print it out or have it automatically recognize your handwriting (completely different from the writing recognition on PocketPCs. Tablets record vectors and velocities to recognize it, not matching it against what could or could not look like your handwriting) and print out a nice neat typefaced set of notes. The Tablet also has built in voice recognition so you can record your lecturer's presentation and have it automatically turn it into text while annotating on the fly. The TabletPC is truly made for students if anything ever has been.

^-- I can also, if I try to write as fast as I type, it's 100% illegible.

So the laptop gets hot? Well, at least it would be a nice lap warmer, I could really use one, it's 54*F in the room right now...

If I wanted digital ink, couldn't I just use the logitech IO pen? It's accuracy isn't 100%, but its a lot cheaper than the tablet pc.

Tablet PCs have been around for years, (I remember an engineer friend of mine had one made by Casio, or maybe Sony, in fact) they just now have an official name. Their a total niche product, not for everyone, but great for some.

Well it's a novelty that's gaining a hell of a lot of market share, chuck. Why don't you go do some research.
