Nah, Id rather learn C. Its more practical (and faster), especially if you don't use it for Web purposes. You never see any real games written in Java :)

On GameSpot, there's an update about Far Cry, looks like an awesome game, completely new type of storyline (yet still point and shoot), and the outdoor graphics is easily the best ever created. They say planned release of Christmas '03. A demo will be used at E3, and may be released to the public hopefully.

C was revolutionary when it came out 30 years ago too.

Read the PC Gamer article of HL2, the graphics seem a bit better, but still behind the times, even compared to HL1 was at the time.

Nonetheless, if they can deliver what they claim on the gameplay and interactivity side, they've got a sure hit, but I've seen promises like the ones they're making way too many times to even believe it until it happens.

Ok, there's not much of a doubt in my mind that HL2 will be well worth checking out after seeing the new 22 minutes long E3 demo video of the (or maybe THE) game. It's about 600 MB large, but is worth a look if you're on broadband. Grab the vid from fileplanet or a mirror, like one of . Very good quality clip, even if it's not superb because it's captured with a video camera at E3.
The physics of the game are what impressed me a lot.

I LOVE the new G-Man in HL2. The model is absolutly awesome. I don't know why, but it's just so damn cool.
