Now you can get the patch which should include several bug fixes, add powerups, and allow you to use the mouse to move the paddle.
The patch requires the Demo version to be installed first (it's a patch) and can be downloaded at: www.ktemkin.com/altballpatch.exe
Tell me if you get any missing DLL messages, or if it runs, and tell me how fast it runs.
If you have 800x600 resolutoin, tell me if it takes up your whole screen.
When the ball goes offscreen, you lose all powers, but the ball speed remains the same.
There's a few powerups in the demo, including:
Death- Instant death. You lose 1 life. (Skull)
Atomic Fission- Breaks your ball into three balls. (Atom)
Blasters- attach to your paddle, giving it the ability to shoot blaster rays, which can destroy normal (gray) blocks. They have no affect on colored blocks. Fired using SHIFT. (Target)
Fusion Shield- protects you from Death and Ball Speedup, and allows you to push the ball against the side of the screen, freezing it in motion untill you press the SPACEBAR. I think I'm going to change it to shift, this way you have to start the ball to shoot. (Nuclei coming together)
Paddle Doubler- creates another paddle to the left of your current one. It moves in synchronization with the regular paddle, but will not stop when it gets to the edge of the screen, allowing you to change its position relative to the main paddle. Doubled paddles cant use sheilds and blasters, and can't collect powerups- but the main paddle still can. (Gray 4-arrow ball)
Speed Up- Increases the ball's speed to above normal. This is permenant, and can only be undone by using the equalizer/Speed Down. (Right Arrow square)
Equalizer- Turns the ball's speed to normal. This is permanant, and can only be ondone by using the Speed Up/Speed Down. (Up arrow square)
Speed Down- Decreses the ball's speed to below normal, which is only bad in Time Trial mode, available in the later full version. (Left arrow square)
More powerups will be available in the full version.
This is the basic double player mode, and the only one available in the demonstration version. In the full I plan to try and implement multiplayer over TCP/IP.
There's two types of Multiplayer, both off TCP/IP or in basic mode:
Cooperative Multiplayer- Available in demo. This allows both players to control a paddle each, cooperating to keep 2 balls in play.
Competative Multiplayer- Players take turns, and try to beat each other's time and score.
