I'm about to go onto Accutane but I'm not even close to positive that I want to. I've heard so many horror stories, and there are so many side effects along a wide range of systems, from birth defects to mental disorders, respiratory arrest, liver failure, you name it and there is a possibility that this drug will do it to some unfortunate soul out there. However it pretty much cures acne in 4 months or less.
If you have taken Accutane, please add your comments here. I'd like to know your opinion on the drug and any effects you've had and how quickly it cleared your acne. If you don't want to comment on this open thread then please private message me, as I have to decide whether I should go on this drug or not. If you have any compelling webpages with scientific information then please post that as well. I really don't want any "My son committed suicide because he was on Accutane" webpages. I'd rather have percentage of patients that have experienced side effects, what kind of permanent side effects I'm in danger of, and simply your personal opinion on the drug. It's about my only option left if I don't want to take two antibiotics every day and cream my face several times a day and staying outside of the sun, etc. So, what are your thoughts?
