it depends on what model of ppc you have.. i've seen replacement kits for the screens for like.. 50 bucks.. i'd hang on to your ppc tho. palms are glorified address books.

Do the new 400MHz Palms, have awesome battery life like the old units? If not, then stick with PPCs. Or get both.

Cameron, I really like the idea of a handheld linux unit myself, but those Zires are so god damned ugly. That new Zire that looks like a handheld PC, looks cool though.

well actually, theres 2 things about graffiti now, first theirs graffiti 2 which lets you write anywhere on the device, and wow, its so much more improved then when i had my visor deluxe, its actually faster then using watchamacallit on pocketpcs( ok ok my pocketpc has been dead for 3 months i forgot its name...) even through the permanent graffiti space on the screen its actually quite fast, im really waiting for that SD WiFi+256mb card for my zire, its going to make it perfect then for multimedia... waiting... waiting... Next year though im going to have a tough decision on what to buy a palm or Pocketpc,

also wierd new Palm device thats coming out called the Tape Wave Zodiac its GBA shaped, but its running a 200mhz motorola, 32mb ram, 320x480 screen, dual SD I/O ports, 8mb ATI Imageon, yeah 8mb... and its going to be $299... stupid competition for GBA and PSP, ohh well...
