Check out the budget Digby. Bush is going to raise taxes to match his spending. Also the larger the deficit, the larger the debt, the larger the interest, and the larger the taxes. Fortunately, the lower end will be shouldering their part of the tax burden better, which will make them more aware of the crushing power of taxation come voting time.

In the end you won't be able to use the money to pay the gardener, the maid, or even the babysitter for her "extra work."

What's the world coming to?

It's pretty frightening. I feel betrayed by the GOP. They were sold to me as the fiscally responsible party, but enlightened to their historical record, I've found that is not the case. No longer will I be played like a fool.

I'm off Clark. I'll wait to see what the budgets look like, since I can't trust the politicians not to bull shit me (those will probably be bull shit too). For a long time I trusted our leaders, but now realize my mistake. They take advantage of American apathy and ignorance.

Unfortunately, it's hard to fight tooth and nail for an unpopular idea without coming off as a fanatic.

Are there any candidates worth voting for? It looks like we'll be stuck picking the lesser of two evils. The lesser will get my support, and I should be able to coax a few votes for that candidate out of my normally politically inactive family.

Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

Dean just fumbled again today, at least according to the media. He said that we shouldn't prejudge cases like 9-11, but that he believes the death penalty is in place for criminals like Usama. I really don't understand how those conflict on more than a superficial basis. Usama is a known terrorist and himself admits to the 9-11 attacks. And the word 'like' is prevalent in both, meaning not that those cases are hardened in stone but used as simple examples on a rudimentary level.

RICoder,

People will take advantage of complacency. Over time passion is dulled. Reigniting that interest will help you fight against those who would take advantage of you.

I believe that the government should be small. I believe that taxes and spending should be cut. I believe in personal freedom. I believe in economic freedom. If you agree, we already have a coalition of two. The more who agree, the larger our coalition grows. We need only find these people, and make our voices and our vote heard.

We should not grant our power to the dishonest. We should be able to trust those who run the nation in which we have a great vested interest to do the best thing for our country, to seek guidance from those who know better, to do what's unpopular even if it costs them votes. We deserve better leaders.
