The O2 exhaust sensor will go off if you don't tighten the gas cap at least 3 clicks (a click on my cap is about 15 degrees). But that usually just throws a C.E.L. warning and not a Maintence warning. How many miles do you have on your car, it may be coming up on a regular scheduled maintenance.

Buy one of those PDA Dyno tools and you can hook your car up to your iPaq and trouble shoot any CEL codes it sends you in the future for a more indepth definition of the problem, you can even reset the light, and make some very accurate dyno graphs. Worth the $100-200.

My friend had a pretty new Cadillac, and it completely died, so he got a new cars. He got a Kia Rio. We took a long ride in it, and...well, I actually think the ride is A LOT better than Toyota (I hate Toyota's mushy ride), yet the thing always shifts at 4000, and absolutely struggles to get there (car starts to shake at 30mph...). He floors it often because that's the only way to get up to speed. It's not a chic magnet, but it gets you from place to place.
