Feedback on x86 emulator

Dan- if you ever need it, just ask. Keep me posted.

Sonic- Actually, one way to go about that.. many old Dos games also supported the Roland (sound canvas I think.. doesn't matter) which was basically general midi... if you could figure out some way to link the roland files to a midi player for the PPC that might work... hmmm... the legality of it, as long as you're not hacking and disassembling other programs to see how they programmed for the Sound Blaster, you should be fine. If you find an old resource on how to program for an SB and can figure it out from there, it's completely legal.

well u wouldn't really need to emu windows 3.1 just emu dos. Dos is the important part i believe because mostly everything you would use the emulator for is playing dos games, but i believe even if you got the emu working it'd be quite complicated to use the games. Somebody , dan, would have to probably map a keyboard full time, then maybe make it so in game u could bind ctrl, enter, space, and others to the game keys :)

I'd still want a mouse. Sorry Jaybot but I'd hate to play monkey island or something with a damn stylus...

you wouldn't really have to bind ctrl etc to hardware keys, you could easily implement an different onscreen keyboard such as the one in PocketDos, and for some games, such as an action game like wolf3d, it would be easy to implement a key mapping utility, such as palmkeys http://www.conduits.com/ce/apps/keys.asp . Paul, why? Do you like having to frag the stupid mouse cursor all over the place? With a stylus all you ever have to do is tap the screen. I hate using a mouse, in fact I sometimes catch myself trying to tap my monitor screen because it's so much easier.. but hey, if you like doing more work, that's your perogative :D

you can still hover, because the mouse cursor will still be on screen (and would follow all stylus movements), all you have to do is tap anywhere on the screen and then slide the stylus to the object you would like to hover over. This works in MM on PocketDos and Monkey Island 1 and Loom (although the mouse input is still screwy with Monkey Island and Loom), yes I took the time to painstakingly wait 5-10 minutes just to make it past the title screens and intros in those games, I was curious. :)
