Unluck many of the people whom have posted in this thread, I like fancy glossy pimped out laptops, which is exactly what I'm personally getting (should get it next week!). I've been intensely following laptops for about 2 years now, so I'm your man Chuck. It all depends on what you want and the price range. Do you want Intel or AMD? Do you care if it has a GPU or not? Wide screen or not? What battery life do you want? What about size and weight? Do you want a painted chasis, aluminum silver, or plastic?

Would this is something you're looking for? ($2000)
Or something like this? ($1300)
Or something like this? ($4500)

I should hope it has a GPU, what are you using, a line printer?

I still love my X1000, though if you can get it with a R9700, it'll be an awesome gaming machine.

The UT2K3 benchmark for 9600 Pro desktop at 1024x768 is about 80fps, while on the 9600 Pro Mobility it is 150fps. With my TI-4200, I get about 55fps on UT2K4. I just hope I can run Half Life 2 well, and it should, but not 100fps, but I hope for at least 35fps.

i think powerbook, just because, by the time i add in a airport and a bigger harddrive and whatnot, it's pretty much worth it. I think i'm gonna end up spending like $1400~ with a second battery and travel charger and all. It'll also be nice to have the geforce 64mb card instead of that 32mb one, and generally the brushed aluminum look it just cooler. too bad i have to make sure and find another job before i can get it.

BUY MY POCKET PC!
