Which PocketPC for videos?

I'm looking at possibly getting a pocket pc.  I want to have it play mp3s and videos, which one plays video best?  I'm looking between a 3760 iPAQ, 567/8 Jordana, or a Casio E-200.  Any suggestions?  Also, what storage devices should I get?  I'm planning on getting an IBM 1GB microdrive, any other options?  Thanks.

I just read the review for the @migo!!!! I think I found my handheld.  How big can I get the flash cards that fit in the PC Card slot?  Thanks again.

The @migo has a few problems right now actually. I'd suggest getting either and iPAQ 38xx or a Casio E-200. Video performance on both would be able the same.<br><br>As for storage: I've had to send my Microdrive back twice for repairs. Get a CompactFlash card -- no mooving parts.

So.... Pickin' a fight with the admin eh?<br><br>Well, here's my response:<br><br>Form-factor. Look at the new iPAQ's and the Casio E200. Sure they don't have a PC Card slot, but they both have the ability to use both CF and SD at the same time, and with the Casio, you don't even need a sleeve! The Casio is smaller than the @migo, and has the PPC2002 OS. I know URThere will come out with an upgrade, but you never know if it will end up being lame like Compaq's upgrade.<br><br>If I were to buy a new Pocket PC, I would buy either a: Casio E200, NEC Pocketgear, or iPAQ 38xx<br><br>The NEC is very small, and looks cool

To the uninformed,<br><br>Ok, yes the E-200 and the new iPaq do indeed have an advantage over the @migo. As the @migo has an advantage over the newer devices. You made it sound like there was some sort of bug plaguing the @migo by saying it has "problems right now." It doesn't have problems, it does just what it says it does. A problem would be, the screen shuts off after 30 seconds of video(this doesn't happen), not the fact that another device has an advantage over it. <br><br>As you already know the @migo runs on the same 206mhz processor as the other devices, so any difference between device speeds will be minimal. The @migo can be bought new at PocketPCFanatic with the newest OS pre-installed for $349 if you buy before Jan 1st, or $400 after that. This is compared to the $600 for one of the newer devices. Also, the @migo's screen is 9.7mm larger than the Casio E200. The @migo indeed only offers one slot for expansion which could be a disadvantage but it is a PCMCIA slot, and you can get just about any type of card for this slot for cheaper prices compared to CF.<br><br>Bottom line, every device has its pro's and con's over other devices, and the @migo is no exception. You shouldn't unfairly count it out because it has been on the market for a while.

You haven't scared me away.  Thanks for the debate, its good to hear two different points of view.  I really only want the handheld to use as a multimedia device, which will require a lot of space, so whichever one can get me that at a decent price is what I am after, so it looks like the @migo is where its at.<br>  What do you know about Kingston cards?  I have found 5GB for $389 and 2GB for $199.  I have read that the brightness on the @migo isn't as bright as others, is it very bad though?  Can I still watch movies ok?<br>  I think thats all of my questions.  Is the @migo only sold on URThere's website?  And you mentioned that the $350 deal only lasts until Jan 1, crap!  Will it be $400 for a while after that?  Thanks again for the help.<br><br> -Brandon

yes, the 350 deal only last until the 1st, and that is through www.PocketPCFanatic.com. After that it will remain at 400 for a while I suspect. I think you can buy them from a few other places besides PPCFanatic and URThere, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. I can tell you that they are not available at best buy or circuit city and the like.<br><br>As for getting a hard drive PCMCIA card, I wouldnt recommend it. They use much more battery power than Solid State memory(like sandisc stuff) and the @migo will run much warmer with one of these in it. They also tend to be fragile, while solid state cards can take quite a beating. Of course if you are looking for the most space per dollar, they win hands down. <br><br>I just got a new Casio E-200, and am looking to sell my 448mb solid state PCMCIA card. Feel free to make an offer if you are interested.<br><br>It is true that the @migo is not as bright as some of the other devices, mostly when you are not using a backlight. It is still easy to read, but not as crisp as some other displays.

If you're loaded, I'd go with the new iPAQ 38xx.<br><br>It has the best screen of all the pocket pc's out there right now... and it doesn't have dust!!! <br><br>I don't exactly like my @migo screen, it seems as if there is a design embedded on the screen or something...
