Did I ever say the US has a bad education system? No, I'm part of it right now, GO SPARTANS! I'm just saying don't say that no other countries besides the US has ever contributed to the world technologically. Do you think a Swedish person would read your post and be like, "Yup, he's right, we are a worthless country contributing to no one."

Oh, and Ford DID NOT create the car, Karl Benz did, IN GERMANY, along with Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach (names looking familiar?). Germany also invented the jetplane and the highway.

Of course America is home to a lot of inventions, and as Sandmann said, the U.S. educational system probably improves quite a lot when it comes to higher education. This is done with 15-year olds though.

I don't see any reason to doubt the results of PISA 2003. This one had an emphasis on science, and from the few sample task I looked at it seemed like they were pretty good.

As I skimmed through the "PISA 2003 Results From the
U.S. Perspective" report (), this one struck me as interesting:

That indicates that, for some reason, there's a huge gap between blacks (very much below average) and whites (slighly above OECD average). If only the whites would have been counted, the US would have been ranked much higher, it seems.

It would also be interesting to see a state-by-state comparison of results.
