I was going to compile a version for the 680 when I realized that the hpcpro does not have dinput.h which is definitely needed.  So, if you program for the 680, or whant to do some research, please see if you can find a compatible include file.  It's up to all of the 680 users now if they want quake.  This goes for all HPCPro users.

Could you kindly post a screenshot or put one (better some) to the website?

I am currently sending a new version of quake to Jim at http://burtcom.com/quake720/.  It isn't much of an update, but it removes the unnecesary Vpad on teh 720 version.  It is also a little bit smaller because of this.  I will hopefully center the screen by tomarrow and get a new resolution or 2 ready.  I know how anoying it is not to be able to use some more of that display.  I also plan on changing to background color (you know white) to another one, or putting a bitmap around the screen, let me know if you have any sugestions, or some good art work that you want displayed.

As a programmer at EDS I have seen hours turn into days. I'm sure Rob will post it as soon as he is done.

I am trying to run Rob's version of Quake for my 720.  I have downloaded the 17.8 meg version of the wad file in to quake\ID1 directory and when I run the game I get the error "W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad" anyone has any ideas?

17.8MB 'version.' What does that mean? Is it some kind of stripped down version of the pak, because if it is you'll need the registered PAK1 file too. But that error message means it is not find thing the gfx.wad file within the PAK0 file. So make sure you have all the files in the correct place.<br>Last modification: Moose Master - 07/09/01 at 12:15:41

Ok, it says that the PQ file was sent, but since it didn't get out, then I will post it on free drive in a couple of seconds.  By the time I had finished my last post, however, it had already sent, but oh well.  As for the problem with the Wad file.<br>1. Is it in the root directory i.e. "\"<br>the path should look like this "\quake\ID1"<br>2. Or is it on a storage card, with the same path as above, only adding teh starage card part to the beginning.<br>3. If it is not in the storage card (or even if it is) do you have at least 8 megs of free program space, I have tested it to see what happens if you don't, but I am pretty sure that that may be your problem, along with what happens.<br><br>Anyway, I plan on making a new port of the 0.061 source (still with the same features) and then I will add what has been promised.  Keep in mind that these are just early ports with several notable bugs.  One of which is the dialog with the special thanks names is not showing up at the beginning.  It's probably any easy bug to fix, but because I have to work, I am working on the game play aspects first.

I am running it from my storage card. In the root directory of the card I have a quake directory. Inside of the quake directory I have the pocketquake.exe and id1 directory. Inside of the id1 directory I have pak0.pak, autoexec.cfg and config.cfg. I stole the config.cfg from my desktop quake install. Then all I do is run pocketquake.exe and it runs fine.<br><br><br>Hope this helps!

I'll just throw a couple ideas out.  <br>1. Get all of the config files and stuff from a PQ version.  I downloaded the IPAQ version and used its config file.<br>2. I don't know if Quake will work if the PocketQuake.exe is on a storage card itself.  I know this is a problem with some games.<br>3. Maybe your Pak0.pak file is currupted?<br>
