A Jornada 720 version using the new GAPI

Yes I did, but I wasn't sure if the PQ exe file was on the storage card. Also, just to let you know, I am compiling PQ .061 right now, and as long as there are no new problems, I will be releaseing it shortly. I couldn't access freedrive a couple of minutes ago, so I will also try to send this one by mail to Jim. Let's hope this one gets there. :)

My mistake, it is version .062 that I am compiling for the 720Last modification: Rob - 07/09/01 at 13:07:10

Version .062 is up and running. Nothing else changed for this update, but .062 is a pretty darn good change, I think.

Ya it runs great with the exe on the storage card.

Also a bug report: When I go into the quake options and then into configure keys the list of keys runs off the bottom of the screen and you can not configure some of them. You can scroll the arrow down to them but not see them. I think this is because the resolution is lower than the screen that Quake is trying to display.

PQ runs fine off of a storage card.
Rob, you are using a Release build, correct? I do not have the credits dialog display in Debug builds because I don't like having to wait for it and close it manually when I begin a debug session.
If the HPC-Pro version of PQ is playable then I will add it to the main download page. Just email me the versions as you build them. Try and keep them to only 1 release a day if possible. ;)

Dan East

Dan, you hit the nail on the head with the dialog fix. It's going to be hard to keep them to one release a day at first, sice I have work to go to again today (what fun ;)), and I want people to be playing the best version they can on the 720. by the way, all of my code compiles for both the 720 and the pocket pc. I just have a bunch of #ifdef _WIN32_WCE_PSPC in there. So, I will be happy to send it to you if you want it. By the way, I am going to be testing out my next resolution now. So, you sould get another version soon. My next release should have to dialog in it, and this will be a true release, (simply because it gives credit to the authors (one of which is me :) )).

Not quite, 320 x 240. I am going to start off with "standard" resolutions before I move onto the harder ones. Right now it is going into 240 x 320. It is kind of wierd, but shouldn't be too hard to fix. I am still figuring out how the display on Quake works.

-----------------------------------------------
Rob, did you get my email?
-----------------------------------------------
Yeah, but there was one problem that I didn't ask you about, but I have figured out now any ways. Also, the code that I sent you only let you acieve a max of 240 x 240 (or larger for the second number, but it would go bellow the screen). I'm now working on increasing that first number with out distorting the display. Thanks again for your help.

Last modification: Rob - 07/10/01 at 06:50:07

Can I get a H#ll yeah. I have just finished adding resolution number 2. 320 x 240. I would like to center the screen before I release this one, but I can definitely say that you will have a new release by 11:00 AM today. (That is when I have to go to work). The screen may not be centered, but you can see so much more with this new resolution, that you will wonder how you have ever played without it.
Last modification: Rob - 07/10/01 at 07:15:41

(It's on my Storage card 17.8 MB pak0; and i have 27356KB for program memory, -> its not a memory problem like you can see)

Thaks for your time!!

First of all, unless the hardware on the 720 in Germany is different (or posibly some code dealing with the graphics in the OS), I don't know why that person cannot get past the nag screen. If it is different, then the only way that I know of to get around it is to email larry and ask him for an updated GAPI lib that supports German 720's.

As for a 320 x 480 version, wouldn't that go off the screen?

For the speed issue, memmory definitly wouldn't be the problem, I have already seen several error messages tell me I don't have enough memory. I guess for now you can run Quake in a smaller resolution or, make your veiw a little bit smaller untill and new version of quake comes out. By the way, is there any way to disable sound that you guys know about. I haven't looked yet, but that could speed up the gameplay if that's all you want. Write back to tell me.

Here is what you can expect in the near future.

1. A centered screen
2. An option to disable sound (if not already there)
3. A change in the background color to black (unless you would prefer something else.
4. A file size reduction (as I remove some more code that is not necessary for the 720).
5. World peace ;)
