crapped my iPAQ - what now?

crapped my iPAQ - what now?

Postby cryo » Oct 20, 2001 @ 4:49pm

i just seem to have sent my iPAQ to hell. I opened it trying to repair the stylus latch myself. I actually repaired it, but afterwards the iPAQ wont use the battery. It still works if i use the AC adapter, but it shuts down if i either unplug it again (the battery does not load) or if i plug the pcmcia expansion jacket.

does en1 have any suggestion before i send it to repaired?

thanx in advance
no i think they're right to do that. if you think you're good enough to take the fucker apart and you end up breaking it, its your own fault, you should pay for repairs or a new one.

I can't remember exactly the inside of the iPaq since I last opened it a while ago. The battery is adhered to back of the case (it does not look like a standard battery - it is very thin, yet wide and tall). A cable should go between it and the mainboard, and there should be a connector that may have come loose when you opened it up. Make sure it is in place, and is oriented correctly.

Dan East

yeah compaq's battery has a layer of polymer around it allowing it to be thin and tall rather than the box-like ion batteries.

thanx for the replies guys,

yeah, i wasnt gonna send it in ti compaq anyway, i wanted to have it upgraded to 64MB by times2tech, and they would do the repair thing too. But i just cant believe i crapped it, i have done that before and i am very careful. I think its just some loose contact or something. Ill check the battery on its own, maybe i can figure out what happened with it.
At PocketPassion there is an article about how your iPAQ looks from the inside.
