the size will be the same, unless you increase the video bitrate.. however, 320x240 clips tend to play a bit choppy.

well ideot i dunno. i also encode episodes of friends (20 - 22 mins) and they come out at 20-21 megs. in fact friends normally is a meg or 2 smaller than futurama, even with a lot of movement.
i don't do 1 pass quality based, just 1 pass normal or 2 pass normal. quality based could be the problem. it may have set the maximum qual to say 300 kps, and in jackass which is gonna be all fast motion and movement it will encode the entire thing at the highest quality.
try it.
encoding at 320 x 240 will only increase the size of the video by about 4%. i only use 320 x 220 becuase it gives me the right aspect ratio.
i also use slow quality/performance. or sometimes medium. not sure if it means performance of the pc playing it, or the amount of runtime dedicated to encoding it.
always use 100% qual. i dont think it makes any difference in file size, and you want the sharpest images possible on these low bitrates.
set colour (yes colour, not color. we made the word first) output to 24 bit if its at 32. not 16bit, divx 4.xxx doesn;t like 16bit.
defualt postprocessing level all the way to the right. again i'm not sure if this makes much difference.

you could just be a waste of space with an angry computer.

Wow Robby, thanks!!!

I am currently encoding it and it looks tons better than before and is projected to be about 34 mb. Looks better, takes less! Thanks, i always did fastest, assuming that it meant it would be faster on the thing playing because the quality would be lower. oh well! I am HAPPY!!!

yeh. i'm the king.
pissing about with the quantizer could get it down further still.
oh the frame rate could handle being decimated by 3 depending what it starts. try it and see, it knocks off another chunk.

Ok, I've gotten the encoding process down now. Now, I made 3 files, when I only needed 2. Is there any way to combine the files, and then split them into only 2 files without reencoding the whole movie. (BTW, Life of Brian is just as funny the 5th time)
