ok, i was in your position just over a year ago, so now i will impart some pearls of wisdom just for you.

1. The road is full of bad drivers. You notice them more on bikes, because a bad driver is also a health risk (could leave you with less limbs than you want).

2. Driving is piss simple. don't worry about it, relax. The first few hours are hard as its all new, then it gets easier. With a car it will take longer because you have a shallower learning curve, because you have an experienced driver next to you. also a car is harder to control overall.

3. We don't give a shit about the details from your individual lessons. we've all been there, all made the same mistakes, all got pissed off by the same drivers, all hate volvos (by the way, if anyone reading this drives a volvo, i hate you, your family, your pets, and your country.)

Luc: you have a good job and a nice life. if you have an asian girlfriend as well, i envy you.

LOL
Yeah, I have a nice life. Work my buns off, but it's a nice life. But my wife is Italian. 8)
BTW, yesterday I rode 420km (~260mi), and as usual, Bertha (my B12) was excepcional. Perfect day indeed.

And Warren, everybody went through this (except Paul), so everybody knows how it goes. It seems hard, but after some time you'll do it blindfolded. Still, after you ride a bike, your perception of the world will be different. Even Paul, only on a bicycle, has more fun then you ever could have in a cage (trust me on that one). And those who ride A LOT bikes (motorcycles OR bicycles), usually drive cars better.

But can you have a chic in the backseat of you bike? I didn't think so. And NO Werner, don't say "no chic wants to be in your clown car!" because many of them do!

I like Volvos, I don't have one, but I like them. Oh, for your information, much earilier in this thread, you'll see that good ol' Chuck wanted a Volvo S80.

you can have a girl on the back of your bike, and if drop a gear and rev it hard she'll love the vibes.
volvo drivers drive wide, slow, and don't look where they're going, try overtaking one on a bike. but of course, volvos are sooo safe. for the person inside. fucking deathtraps on the road.
how about a chick on the bakc of your bike, then getting home and having her in bed,
best of both worlds.

I can't say Volvos are bad. A S80 sitting in my garage (parked by my three motorcycles) can't be a bad thing.
I have to admit the S80 would be better then Bertha when going to the supermarket on a rainy day.

And Warren, citing a biker's axiom, Bikers are, Cagers want to be. 8)
Start with a cage. One day you will evolve enough for the two-wheeled world. Trust me, you won't look back.

I drove in Rhode Island today, on Rt. 102N. So sorry, RICoder, there's no place that's safe to drive for you.
